We will show that on the space \(\mathscr {A}(\varOmega)\) of real analytic functions on a connected set \({\varOmega}\subseteq \mathbb {R}\) with \(0\in {\varOmega}\), the backward shift operator is chaotic and sequentially hypercyclic.
