Large reconfigurable quantum circuits with SPAD arrays and multimode fibers

open access: yesOptica
Reprogrammable integrated optics provides a natural platform for tunable quantum photonic circuits, but faces challenges when high dimensions and high connectivity are involved. Here, we implement high-dimensional linear transformations on spatial modes of photons using wavefront shaping together with mode mixing in a multimode fiber, and measure ...

SPAD-Based Detection System for Nanopore Sequencing Through Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) is a powerful technique for molecular identification, based on the correspondence between Raman spectral peaks and the characteristic vibrational modes of the analyte.

Recent Developments in Single-Photon Avalanche Diode (SPAD) Technologies: From Device Engineering to Optimized Photonic Performance in Quantum Communication

open access: yesPhotonics
The ability to detect individual photons with exquisite temporal precision has transformed single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) into indispensable tools across photonics, with quantum communication emerging as one of their most demanding frontiers.

SPAD array sensitivity enhancement by diffractive microlens

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper we present sensitivity improvement of SPAD pixel using diffractive microlens. We designed microlens structures based on rigorous optical simulations, then we developed the process for thick optical spacer and thin amorphous silicon deposition, on which diffractive structures were defined by lithography and etching.

Hybrid-integrated InGaAs/InP SPAD arrays for quantum communications

open access: yesOptica Quantum
Photonic integration is a promising route to miniaturise the hardware of quantum key distribution (QKD), yet the monolithic integration of single-photon detectors remains a significant challenge. QKD receiver chips integrating superconducting detectors have been demonstrated, but their requirement for cryogenic cooling restricts their practical ...

Continuous-Wave SOFISM with SPAD Array Detection

open access: yes
We present a continuous-wave (CW) implementation of super-resolution optical fluctuation imaging with image scanning microscopy (SOFISM) using a pixelated single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) detector camera. In a scanning-based geometry, SOFISM requires fluorescence fluctuations on timescales compatible with the pixel dwell time while maintaining ...
