Enhanced Quantum Imaging SPAD arrays
2021 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC), 2021Quantum techniques are commonly used to enhance measurement performance in many fields, such as imaging, microscopy, communications, computing and metrology. In quantum imaging and microscopy, entangled photons are exploited to improve image resolution and sensitivity, overcoming the diffraction limit and providing Sub-Shot Noise (SSN) measurements [1]

We present a low-light vision system platform that enables the testing and implementation of optic flow algorithms and kernel operations for micro-air vehicle navigation and obstacle avoidance capabilities. The system includes a 7×7 array of actively-quenched large-area single photon avalanche diodes, each having a compact 9-bit analog counter, and ...

Crosstalk mapping in CMOS SPAD arrays
2016 46th European Solid-State Device Research Conference (ESSDERC), 2016Optical crosstalk is one of the main factors limiting the performance of Single-Photon Avalanche Diode (SPAD) arrays and Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs). In this paper, a set of crosstalk measurements on a CMOS SPAD pixel array with 50µm × 75µm pitch and 51.6% Fill Factor, designed for direct particle detection, is reported.

Compact readout circuits for SPAD arrays
Proceedings of 2010 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2010Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPADs) create a very short duration voltage pulse whenever a photon is detected. The resulting high sensitivity and temporal resolution makes them useful in a range of applications. In this paper two different analogue circuits are reported that are suitable for imaging applications that can record the number of detected

SPADA: An Array of SPAD Detectors for Astrophysical Applications
Experimental Astronomy, 2006Astrophysical studies require accurate, sensitive and fast detectors to detect faint sources with high variability. Recently an array of Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPAD), SPADA, has been developed. This array is suitable for competitive adaptive optics operations and fast transient image acquisition at a fraction of the current cost of imaging ...

Compound semiconductor SPAD arrays
SPIE Proceedings, 2013Single photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) are revolutionizing ultra-sensitive photodetection applications, providing single photon sensitivity, high quantum efficiency and low dark noise at or near room temperature. When aggregated into arrays, these devices have demonstrated the ability to operate as photon number resolving detectors with wide dynamic ...
