Historical Perspectives, State of Art and Research Trends of SPAD Arrays and Their Applications (Part II: SPAD Arrays)

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
The ability to detect single photons is becoming an enabling key capability in an increasing number of fields. Indeed, its scope is not limited to applications that specifically rely on single photons, such as quantum imaging, but extends to applications where a low signal is overwhelmed by background light, such as laser ranging, or in which faint ...

On the time gating of SPADs in a synchronized time-gated SPAD array in Raman spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE SENSORS, 2017
The effect of the timing of the biasing of a single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) on the accuracy of a time-gated SPAD array has been studied in this work. The measurement was realized in a time-gated Raman spectrometer utilizing a 16×256 CMOS SPAD array with on-chip time gating electronics.

Handheld wide-field fluorescence lifetime imaging system based on a distally mounted SPAD array.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2023
In this work a handheld Fluorescent Lifetime IMaging (FLIM) system based on a distally mounted  1 m long wired interface is demonstrated. The head of the system is ∼4.5 cm x 4.5 cm x 4.5 cm making it suitable for hand-held ex vivo applications.
