A dual‐layer living hydrogel, ProΦGel, integrates bacteriophages and probiotics for synergistic wound infection therapy. The outer gelatin‐based matrix releases phages on demand in response to P. aeruginosa infections, while inner alginate beads sustain probiotic delivery.

Positive Definite $\ell_1$ Penalized Estimation of Large Covariance Matrices [PDF]
The thresholding covariance estimator has nice asymptotic properties for estimating sparse large covariance matrices, but it often has negative eigenvalues when used in real data analysis.

Bioinspired Stabilization of Fluorescent Au@SiO2 Tracers for Multimodal Biological Imaging
This study demonstrates a bioinspired stabilization strategy for fluorescent gold‐silica nanoparticles. Inspired by natural biosilica maturation, high‐temperature calcination transforms the silica shells, preventing dissolution in cell culture media and intracellular environments.

SPARSKIT: A basic tool kit for sparse matrix computations [PDF]
Presented here are the main features of a tool package for manipulating and working with sparse matrices. One of the goals of the package is to provide basic tools to facilitate the exchange of software and data between researchers in sparse matrix ...

Logarithmically sparse symmetric matrices
AbstractA positive definite matrix is called logarithmically sparse if its matrix logarithm has many zero entries. Such matrices play a significant role in high-dimensional statistics and semidefinite optimization. In this paper, logarithmically sparse matrices are studied from the point of view of computational algebraic geometry: we present a formula

Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Saliency Detection Using Sparse and Nonlinear Feature Representation
An important aspect of visual saliency detection is how features that form an input image are represented. A popular theory supports sparse feature representation, an image being represented with a basis dictionary having sparse weighting coefficient ...

Performance of algebraic multigrid methods for non-symmetric matrices arising in particle methods
Large linear systems with sparse, non-symmetric matrices arise in the modeling of Markov chains or in the discretization of convection-diffusion problems.

An introduction to Sparse Matrices
The author gives a concise introduction to sparse matrices. First, the history and goals of sparse matrices are outlined. (The reviewer's book Sparse matrices (1973; Zbl 0262.65021) which was the first text in this area is inadvertently not mentioned.) The second part of this paper deals with a description of storage schemes.
