Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Decoherence and Collisional Frequency Shifts of Trapped Bosons and Fermions

open access: yes, 2009
We perform exact calculations of collisional frequency shifts for several fermions or bosons using a singlet and triplet basis for pairs of particles. The "factor of 2 controversy" for bosons becomes clear - the factor is always 2.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Clinical features and management of ocular lesions after stings by hymenopteran insects

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
We describe the ocular alterations and the management after stings from Hymenopteran insects. In all the five patients, the insect was identified as bee.

Threshold Determination Criterion in Steady-State Visual Evoked Potential-Based Acuity Assessment: A Comparison of Four Common Methods

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP) visual acuity is usually defined by extrapolating a straight line regressed through significant SSVEP amplitudes plotted versus spatial frequencies to 0 μV or a noise level floor, or the finest ...

Effect of spatial waveform on apparent spatial frequency

open access: yesVision Research, 2002
We examined the effect of spatial waveform on the perceived spatial frequency of a grating target. The luminance profile of 0.5 c/ degrees sinusoidal gratings was modified by either compressive or expansive power functions, and was presented alternately with a true sinusoidal grating.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

The Effect of Spatial Frequency on Visual Evoked Potentials Components in Visual Acuity Assessment

open access: yesمجله علمی دانشگاه علوم پزشکی کردستان, 2022
Background and Aim: Objective measurement of visual acuity using VEP is high valued in patients with low levels of cooperation. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of spatial frequency on VEP components in visual acuity using Sweep VEP.

O fenômeno de muitas-faces: investigações preliminares The multiple-faces effect: preliminary studies
