Mode-division (de)multiplexing using adiabatic passage and supersymmetric waveguides

open access: yes, 2018
The development of mode-division multiplexing techniques is an important step to increase the information processing capacity. In this context, we design an efficient and robust mode-division (de)multiplexing integrated device based on the combination of

High-order-mode Brillouin random fiber laser based on distributed Rayleigh scattering in all-few mode fiber half-open cavity

open access: yesResults in Physics
A high-order-mode (HOM) Brillouin random fiber laser (BRFL) based on distributed Rayleigh scattering in an all-few-mode fiber random cavity is proposed and experimentally demonstrated.

Scaling photonic lanterns for space-division multiplexing

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
We present a new technique allowing the fabrication of large modal count photonic lanterns for space-division multiplexing applications. We demonstrate mode-selective photonic lanterns supporting 10 and 15 spatial channels by using graded-index fibres ...

Spatial modes in a PCF fiber generated continuum

open access: yes2006 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and 2006 Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference, 2005
We measure the propagation properties of a highly nonlinear photonic crystal fiber (PCF). The spatial, temporal and frequency dependent properties of the propagating modes are measured under conditions of high power, seven picosecond excitation, white light continuum generation.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Dissipative Kerr soliton formation in dual-mode interaction Si3N4 microresonators

open access: yesAPL Photonics
Dissipative Kerr soliton (DKS) microcombs based on multi-mode Si3N4 waveguides turn into an ideal tool that is compact and has precision for optical communication, precision spectroscopy, and frequency metrology.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Modeling Spatial Autocorrelation in Spatial Interaction Data: A Comparison of Spatial Econometric and Spatial Filtering Specifications [PDF]

open access: yes
The need to account for spatial autocorrelation is well known in spatial analysis. Many spatial statistics and spatial econometric texts detail the way spatial autocorrelation can be identified and modelled in the case of object and field data.

Mode-selective Image Upconversion

open access: yes, 2018
We study selective upconversion of optical signals according to their detailed transverse electromagnetic modes, and demonstrate its proof of operations in a nonlinear crystal.

Complete vectorial optical mode converter using multi-layer metasurface

open access: yesNature Communications
Vectorial optical mode converters that can transform orthogonal sets of multiple input vector beams into other orthogonal sets are attractive for various applications in optics and photonics.
