Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Evaluación del uso de señales visuales y de localización por el colibrí cola-ancha (Selasphorus platycercus) al visitar flores de Penstemon roseus Evaluation of the use of visual and location cues by the Broad-tailed hummingbird (Selasphorus platycercus)foraging in flowers of Penstemon roseus

Using data from camera traps and autonomous recording units to evaluate and improve species-habitat inferences

open access: yesAvian Conservation and Ecology
In vast and remote regions such as the boreal forest of northern Canada, population dynamics of most wildlife species are poorly understood because of limited sampling.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Habitat amount–fragmentation interactions drive Canada Warbler dynamics across spatial scales

open access: yesAvian Conservation and Ecology
The Canada Warbler ( Cardellina canadensis ) is a long-distance neotropical migrant that has experienced significant population declines across its range and is listed as threatened in Canada.

On Spatial Resolution in Habitat Models: Can Small-scale Forest Structure Explain Capercaillie Numbers?

open access: yesEcology and Society, 2002
This paper explores the effects of spatial resolution on the performance and applicability of habitat models in wildlife management and conservation. A Habitat Suitability Index (HSI) model for the Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) in the Bavarian Alps ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Global Soil Fauna Metacommunity Patterns: The Roles of Spatial Extent and Environmental Heterogeneity

open access: yesDiversity
A central debate in metacommunity theory concerns how the relative importance of ecological processes varies with spatial scale. We addressed this by integrating global soil fauna metacommunity datasets to analyze the effects of spatial extent (the ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
