Attraction of cod Gadus morhua from coastal spawning grounds to salmon farms
Wild fish aggregate at aquaculture net-pens, but the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. This study examined how salmon farms attract coastal Atlantic cod Gadus morhua from their inshore spawning grounds. Acoustic receivers were deployed at 5

Abstract In the Lake Koocanusa‐Kootenai River system (Montana, USA and British Columbia, Canada), selenium (Se) contamination has become an international concern and is suspected to contribute to the observed burbot (Lota lota) population collapse. Due to our limited ability to sample burbot in Lake Koocanusa for monitoring studies, we used a reference

DEVELOPMENT OF FISH SPAWNING GROUND BY THE ARTIFICIAL SPAWNING MATERIAL
The artificial spawning material in which Japanese sandfish lays eggs was developed. The 1st purpose is development of the mitigation technology which complements a spawning function until natural seaweed is reproduced. The breakwater to which Japanese sandfish is laying eggs in the present at Tomakomai Higashi port will be moved in the future. The 2nd

An inventory of salmon (Salmo salar L.) spawning grounds in the drainage basin of the Drawa, a 4-th order tributary of the Odra [PDF]
Salmon spawning grounds were counted in the rivers Drawa and Płociczna within 1977-1983. From 0 to 44 and from 3 to 22 spawning grounds per year were recorded in the Drawa and Płociczna, respectively.

In recent years, spawning of sandfish was observed in gulfweeds adhering to a breakwater in a sandy beach area of the Tomakomai East Port. This suggested that the breakwater served as a reef for sandfish to spawn on.This study focused on light and flows around a spawning ground of sandfish, for the purpose of adding a function as fish spawning grounds ...

Northeast Arctic Cod and Prey Match-Mismatch in a High-Latitude Spring-Bloom System
By combining an ocean model, a nutrient-phytoplankton-zooplankton-detritus-model and an individual-based model for early life stages of Northeast Arctic cod we systematically investigate food limitations and growth performance for individual cod larvae ...

Sound from spawning cod at their spawning grounds [PDF]
Sound was recorded at five stations at and near the main spawning grounds of the northeast Arctic cod (Gadus morhua L.) off the Lofoten Islands, Norway. Recordings were carried out during April 1997 when large numbers of cod aggregated to spawn, and were repeated in September when the cod were no longer spawning and, in fact, most had emigrated.

Spawning grounds of whiting ( Merlangius merlangus )
Targeted fishing and marine developments can alter the suitability of essential habitat such as spawning areas. Past studies of North Sea whiting (Merlangius merlangus) distribution have led to differing views about the comparative importance of extrinsic and intrinsic constraints on adult distribution in the North Sea.
