The impact of gut microbial signals on hematopoietic stem cells and the bone marrow microenvironment

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) undergo self-renewal and differentiation in the bone marrow, which is tightly regulated by cues from the microenvironment.

Different imaging techniques for investigation of treatment effects on various substrate surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The different imaging techniques were used for measurement of the properties changes on substrate surfaces. In this paper we report about testing various treatment on different substrates following investigation and characterization of the advantages ...

Evidence for Action on HIV Treatment and Care Systems in low and middle-income countries: background and introduction.

open access: yes, 2012
Despite the unprecedented scale-up of treatment for HIV in low and middle-income countries over the past decade, 49% of adults and 77% of children in need of HIV treatment still do not have access to it.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Interpreting OLS Estimands When Treatment Effects Are Heterogeneous: Smaller Groups Get Larger Weights

open access: yes, 2020
Applied work often studies the effect of a binary variable ("treatment") using linear models with additive effects. I study the interpretation of the OLS estimands in such models when treatment effects are heterogeneous.

Jordan’s Accession to the WTO: Retrospective and Prospective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Jordan acceded to the WTO in 1999. In its accession Jordan agreed, for example, to reduce tariffs on imported products and open its services market; it also modified its intellectual property regime.

NKCC1: A key regulator of glioblastoma progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioblastoma (GBM) progression is driven by disrupted chloride cotransporter homeostasis. NKCC1 is highly expressed in stem‐like, astrocytic, and progenitor cells, correlating with earlier recurrence, while overall survival remains unaffected. NKCC1 serves as a prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target, linking chloride transporter imbalance ...

Algorithmically defined therapeutic targets: integrating single-cell transfer learning frameworks with small molecule drugs to reverse disease-associated cell fates

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
The high heterogeneity of the disease microenvironment is a critical factor contributing to therapeutic failure and the emergence of drug resistance; however, predicting drug responses with precision at single-cell resolution remains a substantial ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Termination of Multifractal Behaviour for Critical Disordered Dirac Fermions

open access: yes, 1997
We consider Dirac fermions interacting with a disordered non-Abelian vector potential. The exact solution is obtained through a special type of conformal field theory including logarithmic correlators, without resorting to the replica or supersymmetry ...
