MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Research on Fatigue Strength of Polar Icebreaker Structures Considering Ice Loads Based on Discrete Ice Element Model

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Structural safety is of utmost importance for polar icebreakers under both navigation and icebreaking conditions. In this research, the Palmgren–Miner linear cumulative damage theory is employed to evaluate the structural fatigue lifespan of polar ...

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

An efficient spectral method for nonlinear Volterra integro-differential equations with weakly singular kernels

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis
For Volterra integro-differential equations (VIDEs) with weakly singular kernels, their solutions are singular at the initial time. This property brings a great challenge to traditional numerical methods. Here, we investigate the numerical approximation

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

A Novel and Effective Scheme for Solving the Fractional Telegraph Problem via the Spectral Element Method

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
The combination of fractional derivatives (due to their global behavior) and the challenges related to hyperbolic PDEs pose formidable obstacles in solving fractional hyperbolic equations.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Implementation of the spectral element discretization of the nonstationary velocity–vorticity–pressure Stokes formulation

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems
This paper deals with the resolution of the time-dependent velocity–vorticity–pressure formulation of Stokes problem in a two- and three-dimensional domain. The discretization is based on the spectral element method with respect to the space variable and
