Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Does long‐term phenytoin have a place in Dravet syndrome?

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 9, Issue 12, Page 2036-2040, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Anti‐seizure medications that block sodium channels are generally considered contraindicated in Dravet syndrome. There is, however, considerable debate about the sodium‐channel blocker phenytoin, which is often used for status epilepticus, a frequent feature of Dravet syndrome.

Holes in Spectral Lines [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 1973
© 1973 The American Physical Society ; The decay of an atom in the presence of a static perturbation is investigated. The perturbation couples a decaying state with a nondecaying state. A "hole" appears in the emission line at a frequency equal to the frequency difference between the nondecaying state and the ground state.

Flow‐based immunomagnetic enrichment of circulating tumor cells from diagnostic leukapheresis product

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The number of circulating tumor cells obtained from prostate cancer patients was increased approximately 5‐fold compared to regular CellSearch when processing 2 mL diagnostic leukapheresis material aliquots and increased by 44‐fold when processing 20 mL DLA aliquots using the flow enrichment target capture Halbach‐array.

The clinical spectrum of SMA‐PME and in vitro normalization of its cellular ceramide profile

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 9, Issue 12, Page 1941-1952, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objective The objectives of this study were to define the clinical and biochemical spectrum of spinal muscular atrophy with progressive myoclonic epilepsy (SMA‐PME) and to determine if aberrant cellular ceramide accumulation could be normalized by enzyme replacement.

On 2D Euler Equations: III. A Line Model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2002
The spectral theorem of the linear 2D Euler operator in Sobolev spaces is presented as a corollary of the spectral theorem in $\ell_2$ space in [Li,00]. Study on the (dashed) line model introduced in [Li,01] is continued. Specifically, invariant manifolds for the line model is established.

Spectral enclosures and stability for non-self-adjoint discrete Schroedinger operators on the half-line [PDF]

open access: yesBull. London. Math. Soc. 54 (2022) 2379-2403, 2021
We make a spectral analysis of discrete Schroedinger operators on the half-line, subject to complex Robin-type boundary couplings and complex-valued potentials. First, optimal spectral enclosures are obtained for summable potentials. Second, general smallness conditions on the potentials guaranteeing a spectral stability are established.

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

The effects of inclination, gravity darkening and differential rotation on absorption profiles of fast rotators

open access: yes, 2003
Mechanisms influencing absorption line profiles of fast rotating stars can be sorted into two groups; (i) intrinsic variations sensitive to temperature and pressure, and (ii) global effects common to all spectral lines.

Vanishing lines in Adams spectral sequences are generic [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1998
We show that in a generalized Adams spectral sequence, the presence of a vanishing line of fixed slope (at some term of the spectral sequence, with some intercept) is a generic property.
