Trapping and sympathetic cooling of conformationally selected molecular ions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We report the generation, trapping and sympathetic cooling of individual conformers of molecular ions with the example of cis- and trans-meta-aminostyrene. Following conformationally selective photoionization, the incorporation of the conformers into a Coulomb crystal of laser-cooled calcium ions was confirmed by fluorescence imaging, mass spectrometry

Maximizing analytical precision: exploring the advantages of ratiometric strategy in fluorescence, Raman, electrochemical, and mass spectrometry detection

open access: yesFrontiers in Analytical Science, 2023
Ratiometric strategy are an invaluable method that helps to detect and quantify analytes. This approach relies on measuring changes in the ratio of two or more signals to improve the accuracy and sensitivity of the results.

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

Parallel G-duplex and C-duplex DNA with Uninterrupted Spines of AgI-Mediated Base Pairs [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys. Chem. Lett. (2018) 9(22): 6605-6610, 2018
Hydrogen bonding between nucleobases produces diverse DNA structural motifs, including canonical duplexes, guanine (G) quadruplexes and cytosine (C) i-motifs. Incorporating metal-mediated base pairs into nucleic acid structures can introduce new functionalities and enhanced stabilities.

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Combined spatially resolved metabolomics and spatial transcriptomics reveal the mechanism of RACK1‐mediated fatty acid synthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.

Novel EDTA-Ligands Containing an Integral Perylene Bisimide (PBI) Core as Optical Reporter Unit [PDF]

open access: yesOrg. Biomol. Chem. 2014, 12, 7045-7058, 2018
The synthesis, characterization and metal complexation of a new class of perylene bisimides (PBIs) being an integral part of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is reported. The simplest representative, namely derivative 1a, was synthesized both by a convergent as well as a direct approach while the elongated derivatives, 1b and 1c, were obtained ...
