A brief introduction into the spectroscopy of fusion plasmas is presented. Basic principles of the emission of ionic, atomic and molecular radiation is explained and a survey of the effects, which lead to the population of the respective excited levels, is given. Line radiation, continuum radiation, opacity and line broadening mechanisms are addressed.

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Photoacoustic phase-controlled Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy [PDF]
We demonstrate a 13-fold speed improvement in broadband cantilever-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy (CEPAS) by combining it with phase-controlled Fourier-transform spectroscopy (PC-FTS) instead of traditional Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).

The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.

Formation of the β-barrel assembly machinery complex in lipid bilayers as seen by solid-state NMR
The β-barrel assembly machinery (BAM) catalyzes β-barrel protein insertion into the outer membrane of E.coli. Here authors employ high-sensitivity solid-state NMR to reveal how the lipid environment and formation of the BamA-BamCDE complex affect BamA ...

Zero field magnetic resonance spectroscopy based on Nitrogen-vacancy centers [PDF]
We propose a scheme to have zero field magnetic resonance spectroscopy based on a nitrogen-vacancy center and investigate the new applications in which magnetic bias field might disturb the system under investigation. Continual driving with circularly polarized microwave fields is used to selectively address one spin state.

Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon
