The sperm ultrastructure and spermatogenesis of the ectoparasitic polychaete Asetocalamyzas laonicola Tzetlin, 1985 (Calamyzidae) is investigated. The male cells are located freely in the coelom.

Our study demonstrated that a single bilateral intra‐testicular injection of 50% dextrose (Group A) and 20% mannitol (Group B) solutions cannot serve as chemical sterilizing agents in male rabbits. However, intra‐testicular injection of 0.9% saline (Group C) significantly reduced the seminiferous tubule quality (STQ), seminiferous tubule maturity (STM),

Multiple Roles of Protamine Kinase SRPK1 and Phosphatase PP1γ in Sperm Development
ABSTRACT Protein phosphorylation regulates key events of male germ cell differentiation. In the testis, SRPK1 and PP1γ are involved in protamine phosphorylation and dephosphorylation, respectively, and their deregulation is linked to defective chromatin structure and male infertility.

Comparative aspects of mammalian spermiogenesis. [PDF]
The testes of some different orders of eutherian mammals were examined by conventional electron microscopy with respect to their pattern of spermiogenesis. In addition, some of the testes were studied by cytochemical methods for demonstration of certain nuclear proteins and of glycoproteins in the acrosome and the plasma membrane of spermatids.

ABSTRACT Mining plays a crucial role in economic development, but improper management can lead to severe environmental degradation. Particularly for iron ore, mining generates vast amounts of tailings often stored in unstable dams. This study aims to investigate the toxicological impacts of environmentally relevant concentrations of metals mixture ...

Multi‐omics analysis reveals that herbivorous adaptation in Lordiphosa flies arises from coordinated interactions across the genome, transcriptome, and gut microbiota: genomic expansions of detoxification (e.g., cytochrome P450s) and carbohydrate metabolism gene families, transcriptomic upregulation of energy pathways like lipid oxidation and ...

The use of deidentified organ donor testes for research
Abstract Our knowledge of testis development and function mainly comes from research using mammalian model organisms, primarily the mouse. However, there are integral differences between men and other mammalian species regarding cellular composition and expression profiles during fetal and post‐natal testis development and in the mature testis ...

Essential Role of Histone Replacement and Modifications in Male Fertility
Spermiogenesis is a complex cellular differentiation process that the germ cells undergo a distinct morphological change, and the protamines replace the core histones to facilitate chromatin compaction in the sperm head. Recent studies show the essential

Iqcg is essential for sperm flagellum formation in mice. [PDF]
Mammalian spermatogenesis comprises three successive phases: mitosis phase, meiosis phase, and spermiogenesis. During spermiogenesis, round spermatid undergoes dramatic morphogenesis to give rise to mature spermatozoon, including the condensation and ...

Centrosome Reduction during Mouse Spermiogenesis
The sperm does not contribute the centrosome during murine fertilization. To determine the manner in which a functional centrosome is reduced, we have studied centrosome degeneration during spermiogenesis of mice. The round spermatids display normal centrosomes consisting of a pair of centrioles along with gamma-tubulin containing foci.
