Research is strongest when conducted alongside patients, not just about them. Patient research organizations help integrate patient perspectives into research priorities, study design, and scientific meetings, leading to meaningful patient outcomes and development of relevant therapies.

Two new species of Echinostoma (Digenea: Echinostomatidae) from Argentinean birds
Two new species of Echinostoma from Argentinean birds are described, illustrated and compared with morphologically close species. Echinostoma guirae n. sp. found parasitizing the intestine of Guira guira (Cuculidae) from Formosa Province is characterized

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Circadian clock regulates the shape and content of dendritic spines in mouse barrel cortex.
Circadian rhythmicity affects neuronal activity induced changes in the density of synaptic contacts and dendritic spines, the most common location of synapses, in mouse somatosensory cortex.

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.

Regulation of dendritic spine morphogenesis and synapse formation by copines [PDF]
Primary rat hippocampal culture is a well established system to study molecular mechanisms occurring during synapse formation and maturation. By closer analysis of the temporal appearance of presynaptic Bassoon and the postsynaptic proteins SynGAP, PSD ...

The spine problem: finding a function for dendritic spines
Why do neurons have dendritic spines? This question-the heart of what Yuste calls "the spine problem"-presupposes that why-questions of this sort have scientific answers: that empirical findings can favor or count against claims about why neurons have spines. Here we show how such questions can receive empirical answers.

The Role of Calcitonin Gene‐Related Peptide in High‐Altitude Headache: A Prospective Field Study
ABSTRACT Objective High‐altitude headache (HAH) is a common neurological condition associated with rapid ascent to high altitude. The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying HAH remain incompletely understood. Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP), a neuropeptide implicated in migraine pathophysiology, may play a key role in the pathophysiology of ...
