The effects of spinosad on antioxidant system and cognitive performance of mice

Archives of Physiology and Biochemistry, 2019
There are few studies examining the effect of spinosad on cognitive functions in the literature. In this study, we applied spinosad 3 weeks in different doses to mice and examined their effects on antioxidant system and cognitive performance. In the open field test, we observed a significant decrease (p

Nutrient and spinosad concentrations influence liquid bait consumption and mortality in spinosad‐resistant melon flies (Diptera: Tephritidae)

Pest Management Science
Abstract BACKGROUND The success of insecticide‐laced liquid protein bait spray applications relies on attraction and consumption by the target pest. Commercial liquid baits often recommend a broad range of dilution rates, even though many insects adjust their intake of ...

Enhanced Production of Spinosad in Saccharopolyspora spinosa by Genome Shuffling

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2009
Spinosad (spinosyns A and D) is a mixture of secondary metabolites produced by Saccharopolyspora spinosa. It is used in agriculture as a potent insect control agent with exceptional safety to non-target organisms. In this study, we applied genome shuffling of S. spinosa to achieve a rapid improvement of spinosad production.

Mortality and reproductive effects of ingested spinosad on adult bollworms

Pest Management Science, 2010
AbstractBACKGROUND: Upon emergence from their pupal cells, bollworm, Helicoverpa zea (Boddie), adults actively seek and feed on plant exudates before they disperse and reproduce on suitable host plants. This nocturnal behavior of the bollworm may be exploited as a pest management strategy for suppression of the insect by using an attractant/stimulant ...

Cholinergic Neurotransmission and Toxicity – Neonicotinoids and Spinosad

Neonicotinoid insecticides are chemically similar to nicotine, exerting their activity by acting as agonists of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR). nAChRs are polypeptides consisting of five subunits arranged around a central non-selective cation channel and are located at the neuromuscular junction, in the autonomic ganglia and in the brain.
