Spintronics: A contemporary review of emerging electronics devices
Spintronics is a new field of research exploiting the influence of electron spin on the electrical conduction (or current is spin dependent). The major problem is the realization and fabrication of spintronics based devices.

Local bifurcation with spin-transfer torque in superparamagnetic tunnel junctions
There has been much interest in using the probabilistic switching of magnetic tunnel junctions in unconventional computing, but to do so requires a detailed understanding of this switching. Here, Funatsu et al rigorously determine the switching exponents

Semiconductors are promising for high performance spintronics but the low functioning temperature hampers their applications. Here the authors achieve a strong room temperature modulation of spin-dependent resistance in GaN nanowires, which marks an ...

We describe a novel type of blockade in a hybrid mode generated by linear coupling of photonic and phononic modes. We refer to this effect as hybrid photon–phonon blockade and show how it can be generated and detected in a driven nonlinear optomechanical

A new approach towards spintronics–spintronics with no magnets [PDF]
We review a recently discovered phenomenon, the chiral induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect, that can enable a new technology for the injection of spin polarized current without the need for a permanent magnetic layer. The effect occurs in chiral molecules and systems without parity symmetry, i.e. systems that do not have inversion symmetry.

Formation and current-induced motion of synthetic antiferromagnetic skyrmion bubbles
Realizing stable, room-temperature magnetic skyrmions that can be moved along current is challenging. Here, the authors observe skyrmion bubbles in a synthetic antiferromagnetic coupled multilayer at room temperature and demonstrate its current-induced ...

Self-consistent solution for the magnetic exchange interaction mediated by a superconductor
We theoretically determine the magnetic exchange interaction between two ferromagnets coupled by a superconductor using a tight-binding lattice model.

Fluctuation Relations for Spintronics [PDF]
Fluctuation relations are derived in systems where the spin degree of freedom and magnetic interactions play a crucial role. The form of the non-equilibrium fluctuation theorems relies in the assumption of a local balance condition. We demonstrate that in some cases the presence of magnetic interactions violates this condition.
