Facile synthesis of hydantoin/1,2,4-oxadiazoline spiro-compounds via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrile oxides to 5-iminohydantoins [PDF]
The cycloaddition of 1,3-dipoles at C=N bonds is a relatively rare process, in contrast to the widespread cycloaddition reactions at C=C, C≡C, and C=S bonds.

Green Synthesis of Spiro Compounds with Potential Anticancer Activity through Knoevenagel/Michael/Cyclization Multicomponent Domino Reactions Organocatalyzed by Ionic Liquid and Microwave-Assisted [PDF]
In this work a microwave-assisted Knoevenagel/Michael/cyclization multicomponent domino methodology, using ethanol as solvent and the ionic liquid 1-methylimidazolium chloride as catalyst was developed for the synthesis of spiro compounds.

Spiro heterocyclic compounds. V. Synthesis of spiro(homophthalimide-4,4'-(4'H-pyran)) compounds.
The reaction of 2-methylphthalonimide (1) with malononitrile gave 4-dicyanomethylene-2-methylhomophthalimide (2) in 95% yield. The Michael reaction of 2 with compounds having an active methylene or methyl group (3a-d) afforded the corresponding spiro [2-methylhomophthalimide-4, 4'-(4'H-pyran)] compounds (4a-d). In contrast, the reaction of 2 with other

When Poor Light‐Emitting Spiro Compounds in Solution Turn into Emissive Pure Layers in Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes: The Key Role of Phosphine Substituents [PDF]
Spiro compounds are widely used as host matrices in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). Here, inspired by the recent developments in thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials, the potential as a light emitter of two spiro‐configured ...

Nitrosation of 2-methylisoquinoline-1, 3 (2H, 4H)-dione (I) with NaNO2 in AcOH afforded the 4-nitroso compound (II) in almost quantitative yield. Catalytic reduction of II produced 4-imino-2-methylisoquinoline-1, 3 (2H, 4H)-dione (III) and a small amount of 4, 4'-bi-2-methylisoquinoline-1, 3 (2H, 4H)-dione (IV).

CHEMISTRY OF SPIRO-COMPOUNDS. PART II. SYNTHESIS OF CYCLOPENTANE-SPIRO-CYCLOPENTANONE.
cycloPentane—spiro-cyclopentanone has been synthesised from cyclopentane-I-carboxyI-butyric acid, which has been synthesised in a way which leaves no doubt regarding its configuration. The lactone obtained by the reduction of the anhydride of cyciopentane-I-carboxy-I-acetic acid yields a bromo-ester which by the action of sodiomalonic ester and ...
