Spiro-compounds, synthesis and catalytic dehydrogenation of substituted spiro[5,5] undecanes
Tetrahedron, 1976Abstract Catalytic dehydrogenation of 1-propyl-8,9-benzospiro[5,5]undecane-7-ol (5: R = H), and 1-propyl-3′-methyl-8,9-benzospiro[5,5]undecane-7-ol (5: R = Me) has been carried out to study the effect of a bulky alkyl group on the ring in the ring transformation of the spiro[5,5]undecane system. The catalytic dehydrogenation of the spiro-compound 5(R

Ultrafast optical dynamics of spiro-compounds
Synthetic Metals, 2001We report on time-resolved measurements of spiro-type molecules in the ps- and fs-timescale. Due to the orthogonality of the transition dipoles of two identical moieties connected through a spiro-atom, one expects these compounds to show two perpendicular, degenerate states that may enter into a complex free evolution upon fs excitation.

Electronic properties of spiro compounds for organic electronics
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2012The electronic properties of p-type, n-type, and ambipolar spiro materials have been investigated using a combination of photoemission spectroscopy, electron energy-loss spectroscopy, and density functional based calculations. Our results provide insight into the occupied density of states as well as the electronic excitation spectra.

The condensation reactions of N2Ox (x = 2, 3) donor-type aminopodand (4) and dibenzo-diaza-crown ethers (5, 6, and 9) with hexachlorocyclotriphosphazatriene, N3P3Cl6, produce two kinds of partially substituted novel phosphazene derivatives, namely, spiro-bino-spiro- (19) and spiro-crypta (21, 22, and 25) phosphazenes.

Enantioselective methodologies for the synthesis of spiro compounds
Chem. Soc. Rev., 2012The enantioselective synthesis of spirocycles has been a long time pursued dream for organic chemists. Since the first pioneering efforts of Tamao and coworkers in the enantioselective construction of spirosilanes, many efforts have been devoted to the development of new and promising asymmetric methodologies.
