Physiological and agronomic responses of maize (Zea maysL) cultivars to plant population and defoliation at post-anthesis in the humid rainforest

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2018
Variations in response pattern of maize (Zea mays)grown at plant populations, defoliated at post-anthesis in the rainforest were tested. Two field trials were conducted at Abeokuta, (Longitude 3025’E, Latitude 7015’N; 144 m a.s.l) and Ibadan (3056’E ...

The use of pre-emergence herbicides in cassava decreases the need of manual weeding

open access: yesRevista Ceres, 2020
Weed management consists of a fundamental practice in cassava, with mechanical and chemical control widely used. The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficacy of pre-emergence herbicides, as well as to determine the interaction of these with ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

The D-optimal design of blocked and split-plot experiments with mixture components. [PDF]

open access: yes
So far, the optimal design of blocked and split-plot experiments involving mixture components has received scant attention. In this paper, an easy method to construct efficient blocked mixture experiments in the presence of fixed and/or random blocks is ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Yield and Yield Attributes Responses of Soybean (Glycine max L. Merrill) to Elevated CO2 and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Inoculation in the Humid Transitory Rainforest

open access: yesNotulae Scientia Biologicae, 2017
Variations in yield components and grain yield of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) inoculated soybean varieties (Glycine max L. Merrill) grown in CO2 enriched environment in the humid rainforest were tested.

Unbalanced and Minimal Point Equivalent Estimation Second-Order Split-Plot Designs [PDF]

open access: yes
Restricting the randomization of hard-to-change factors in industrial experiments is often performed by employing a split-plot design structure. From an economic perspective, these designs minimize the experimental cost by reducing the number of resets ...
