Pitchfork bifurcations in blood-cell shaped dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates

open access: yes, 2010
We demonstrate that the method of coupled Gaussian wave packets is a full-fledged alternative to direct numerical solutions of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation of condensates with electromagnetically induced attractive 1/r interaction, or with dipole-dipole

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

The AA-Viscosity Algorithm for Fixed-Point, Generalized Equilibrium and Variational Inclusion Problems

open access: yesAxioms
The aim of this paper is to propose an inertial-type AA-viscosity algorithm for approximating the common solutions of the split variational inclusion problem, the generalized equilibrium problem and the common fixed-point problem of nonexpansive mappings.

On some provably correct cases of variational inference for topic models

open access: yes, 2015
Variational inference is a very efficient and popular heuristic used in various forms in the context of latent variable models. It's closely related to Expectation Maximization (EM), and is applied when exact EM is computationally infeasible.

On a class of polynomial Lagrangians [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In the framework of finite order variational sequences a new class of Lagrangians arises, namely, \emph{special} Lagrangians. These Lagrangians are the horizontalization of forms on a jet space of lower order.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Novel numerical optimisation of the Hohmann Spiral Transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
As the revenue of commercial spacecraft platforms is generated by its payload, of which the capacity is maximised when fuel-mass is minimised, there is great interest in ensuring the fuel required for the trajectory to deliver the satellite to its ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Orthogonally Decoupled Variational Gaussian Processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Gaussian processes (GPs) provide a powerful non-parametric framework for reasoning over functions. Despite appealing theory, its superlinear computational and memory complexities have presented a long-standing challenge.

On solving general split equality variational inclusion problems in Banach space

open access: yesThe Journal of Nonlinear Sciences and Applications, 2017
Summary: In this paper, we are concerned with a new iterative scheme for general split equality variational inclusion problems in Banach spaces. We also show that the iteration converges strongly to a common solution of the general split equality variational inclusion problems (GSEVIP).
