Sterilization of Bacteria with Low-Pressure Low-Temperature Plasma Discharge [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The study investigates the effectiveness of using low-pressure oxygen plasma, generated by microwave discharge, to sterilize bacterial spores of Bacillus Stearothermophilus and Bacillus Subtilis. Plasma, a highly ionized state of matter consisting of positive ions and free electrons, is created by applying high temperatures or accelerating electrons ...

Hydroclimate variability in the eastern Kimberley, Australia, since the last deglaciation

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract The climate of the Kimberley region in tropical northwest Australia is dominated by the Indo‐Australian summer monsoon (IASM). Understanding of the palaeoclimate since the Last Glacial Maximum in this region, which is well placed to record IASM variations, is currently based on few records.

Quantitive evaluation of composition and biomolecular mapping of macrofungi spores by Raman spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Raman spectroscopy is widely applied to detect different chemical compounds in organic matter and create label-free high-resolution maps on the level of separate cells. The main advantage of this technique is the possibility to study objects in vivo without special pretreatment.

Prenatal Intake of High Multivitamins or Folic Acid With or Without Choline Contributes to Gut Microbiota‐Associated Dysregulation of Serotonin in Offspring

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 69, Issue 9, May 2025.
Consuming too much vitamins including folic acid or not enough choline during pregnancy can disturb the gut–brain serotonergic system in adult offspring. Lactococcus, Ruminococcus, Bacteroides, and Oscillospira were associated with altered serotonergic expression and function in male and female offspring, highlighting unique gut microbiota patterns ...
