Salt‐induced nutritional and metabolic shifts in halophytes: implications for food security
Abstract Plant species vary in their response to salinity: some crops show a degree of salt tolerance, while halophytes – whether wild or cultivated – are characterized by a high capacity to thrive under saline conditions. Halophytes are considered a source of valuable secondary metabolites with potential economic value, yet they might also produce ...

Następczy wpływ wsiewek międzyplonowych na plonowanie jęczmienia jarego na glebie lekkiej
The aim of the present research was to compare the residual effect of six undersown crops cultivated on the light soil on the yielding of spring barley. The field experiment was carried out in the years 1993–1997 at the Experimental Station of Bezek near

Applying nitrogen fertilizers for spring barley
1. Fifteen experiments on spring barley (mainly Proctor), done from 1957 to 1959, compared alternative alternative methods of applying 0·3, 0·6 and 0·9 cwt. N/acre.2. Combine-drilling 0·3 or 0·6 cwt. N/acre as ammonium sulphate produced higher mean yields than broadcasting, but drilling 0·9 cwt.

The new spring barley variety “Bulat"
In the Russian Federation, barley is one of the most important food and forage grain crops. The wide spread of barley throughout the country is caused by its high ability to adapt to various environmental factors. In the Stavropol Area, where barley is mainly used as fodder, significant areas are occupied with winter barley as more productive crop, but

Nitrogen use efficiency of cereals in arable organic farming [PDF]
The effect of nitrogen (N) supply and weeds on grain yield of spring barley, winter wheat and winter rye was investigated from 1997 to 2004 in an organic farming crop rotation experiment in Denmark on three soil types varying from coarse sand to sandy ...

Precrop Functional Group Identity Affects Yield of Winter Barley but Less so High Carbon Amendments in a Mesocosm Experiment [PDF]
Nitrate leaching is a pressing environmental problem in intensive agriculture. Especially after the crop harvest, leaching risk is greatest due to decomposing plant residues, and low plant nutrient uptake and evapotranspiration.

Advancements in Mass Spectrometry‐Based Glycomics in Food and Nutritional Science
ABSTRACT This review highlights advancements in mass spectrometry (MS)‐based glycomics in food and nutritional science. Carbohydrates, which are vital for human health, exhibit complex structures, making their analysis challenging. MS has become an indispensable tool for elucidating the structures of carbohydrates, including glycans, through soft ...

The potential of seedbank digital information in plant conservation
Seedbanks are vital for biodiversity conservation, but their potential remains underutilised due to a limited understanding of the intraspecific genetic diversity they hold. By leveraging digitised data associated with seedbank collections, such as sampling locations, number of maternal plants and seed traits, we can attempt the estimation of genetic ...
