Sprouting epidermoid cysts

British Journal of Plastic Surgery, 2000
Five unusually shaped (i.e. 'sprouting') epidermoid cysts in the upper lip, elbow and foot are reported. The tumours seldom produced symptoms. The maximum diameter was 25-48 mm. The complete removal including a sprouting bud is necessary. Histologically, partial to complete cyst wall rupture was recognised.

Brussels Sprout Decapitation Yields Larger Sprouts of Superior Quality

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2016
A common technological practice in Brussels sprouts (Brassica oleracea L. var. gemmifera) production is the removal of apical plant section a few weeks before harvest in order to promote the development of auxiliary buds (sprouts) and ensure higher yields.

The Formation of Axonal Sprouts in Organ Culture and Their Relationship to Sprouting in Vivo

1980
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the phenomena of axonal sprouting from mature neurons in vivo and in organ culture. Within hours of injury to a nerve, axonal sprouts form at the proximal stump. These sprouts are the initial stage of the regenerative process and have many of the characteristics of the growth cones of neurites formed from ...

Inhibition of potato sprout growth by carvone enantiomers and their bioconversion in sprouts

Potato Research, 1995
The monoterpenes (R)-(−)-carvone and (S)-(+)-carvone inhibited sprout growth in a model system consisting of sprouts growing from potato eye pieces. The sprout tissue was not necrotic after carvone treatment and the inhibition was reversible, since after treatment the sprouts showed regrowth either by continued top growth or by branching.

Describing semantic domains with sprouts

Acta Informatica, 1989
In denotational semantics, the meaning of a construct of a programming language is modelled by an element of a (semantic) domain. Domains are essentially ordered sets, in which every element may be approximated by a directed set of compact elements. A new approach to domain construction is proposed using directed systems of certain finite subsets of a ...

Cryptanalysis of Full Sprout

2015
A new method for reducing the internal state size of stream cipher registers has been proposed in FSE 2015, allowing to reduce the area in hardware implementations. Along with it, an instantiated proposal of a cipher was also proposed: Sprout. In this paper, we analyze the security of Sprout, and we propose an attack that recovers the whole key more ...

Fractionation and Distribution of Calcium in Sprouting and Non-sprouting Potato Tubers

Annals of Botany, 1985
Autoradiographs of potato tubers (Solatium tuberosumL. cv. Mans Piper) grown in the presence of “Ca revealed high activity in the periderm, vascular ring (predominantly xyiem), phloem bundles and pith. It is calculated that only 40 per cent of tubeT Ca entered directly through the periderm and the possibility of import via the phloem is discussed ...

Noradrenergic fiber sprouting in the cerebellum

Brain Research Bulletin, 1982
Abstract In order to attain a better understanding of the sprouting response of noradrenergic fibers in the central nervous system (CNS), noradrenergic innervation to the cerebellum was observed by the glyoxylic acid method after a variety of manipulations and in a genetic variant of mouse classified as “Purkinje cell degeneration” (pcd/pcd).

Molecular Regulation of Sprouting Angiogenesis

Comprehensive Physiology, 2018
ABSTRACTThe term angiogenesis arose in the 18th century. Several studies over the next 100 years laid the groundwork for initial studies performed by the Folkman laboratory, which were at first met with some opposition. Once overcome, the angiogenesis field has flourished due to studies on tumor angiogenesis and various developmental models that can be

Synthesis of Antioxidants in Wheat Sprouts

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2004
Aqueous and ethanolic extracts from wheat (Triticum aestivum) sprout powder were analyzed to determine its reduction and antioxidant activities. Mean and standard deviation of five independent samples were reported. The results showed that the micromoles of potassium ferricyanide reduced by aqueous and ethanolic extracts corresponding to 1 g of sprout ...
