A study on brake noise. (Drum brake squeal).
Recently, a theoretical analysis of drum brake squeal was presented by N. Millner. This report has been quoted in many papers. We considered an improved analytical model in order to clarify a practical method of eliminating brake squeal. We obtained an equation which represents E, the increase of kinetic energy during 1 cycle.

Structural modifications for squeal noise reduction: numerical and experimental validation [PDF]
Squeal is an example of noise caused by vibrations induced by friction forces. Several works have been developed over the last decades. Certain of these works have focused on simplified brake systems and identified 'lock-in' instability as being the cause of squeal. A short bibliography of previous works and the most recent results are presented. Brake

Global climate change is reshaping the schedules and routes of migratory birds, which can disrupt annual cycles, ecological interactions and the fitness trade‐offs of migrating or staying resident. In particular, climate change has led to advances in arrival at the breeding grounds and to shifts in the timing of post‐breeding migration, whereby both ...

Reduction of disc brake squeal noise through brake pad modification [PDF]
One of the common noise issues in automotive industry is disc brake squeal. Many researchers conduct deep studies to reducing and eliminating disc brake squeal in the past decades.

In the present paper, brake squeal phenomenon as a noise resource in automobiles was studied. In most cases, the modeling work is carried out assuming that deformations were small; thus, equilibrium point is set zero and linearization is performed at ...

In a cytokine‐challenged human epidermal model, trans‐resveratrol reduces inflammation (IL‐1α) and oxidative stress markers (CYP1A1, CYP1B1), while modulating the expression of barrier‐related genes (LOR, OCLN) and differentiation‐associated CASP14. This supports its role as a multifunctional active for sensitive and compromised skin.

Society demand for more sustainable transports is increasing, starting a modal shift from road to railway. The resulting increase in railway traffic intensity is leading to more activities on the track, even during the night time.

Curve squeal is a highly disturbing tonal noise produced by railway vehicles on tight curves, primarily attributed to lateral sliding at the wheel–rail interface.

During the past decades, the problem of friction-induced vibration and noise has been the subject of a huge amount of works. Various numerical simulations with finite elements models have been largely investigated to predict squeal events.

Genetic Determination of Maternal Behaviour in Pigs
ABSTRACT In sows, maternal behaviour is a commercially important trait which affects sow and piglet welfare and the quality and safety of human‐animal interactions, especially if free farrowing of sows without crates is in place. The aim of this study was to evaluate maternal behaviour and to estimate its quantitative genetic parameters in Swiss ...
