Chromatographic systems capable of resolving the 2′- and 3′-isomers of valyladenosine and N -acetylvalyladenosine are used to show that valyladenosine isolated from valyl-sRNA is the equilibrium mixture of 2′- and 3′-acyl isomers by the time of chromatography.

Specific binding of sRNA to ribosomes during polypeptide synthesis and the nature of peptidyl sRNA

Abstract Data are presented which suggest that one molecule of aminoacyl sRNA and one molecule of peptidyl sRNA are bound to a ribosome during polypeptide synthesis. Puromycin does not alter the amount of bound aminoacyl sRNA under the conditions which allow peptide bond formation whereas it reduces the amount of bound peptidyl sRNA.

The number of experimentally-verified small RNAs (sRNAs) in haloarchaea has increased tremendously since their discovery in 2009. A recent dRNA-Seq study led to the identification of about 2900 non-coding primary transcripts, a number that was much higher than the less than 1900 protein-coding mRNAs that were detected.

The synthesis of glycyl-l-phenylalanyl-sRNA

Abstract Glycyl- l -phenylalanyl-sRNA was prepared by acylation of l -phenylalanyl-sRNA. The method involves the use of N-hydroxysuccinimide ester of N-protected glycine as a highly specific reagent which acylates only the amino group of the phenylalanine bound to the sRNA and does not react with any of the functional groups of sRNA.
