Enhancing Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) Coatings on Magnesium Alloys: The Critical Role of Surface Pretreatments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 12, Issue 14, July 25, 2025.
This review explores how various surface pretreatment methods—such as heat treatment, severe plastic deformation, laser modification, immersion, and cold spray—enhance the performance of PEO coatings on magnesium alloys. The study highlights how these pretreatments influence coating microstructure, adhesion, and corrosion resistance, offering new ...

Aversion‐resistant alcohol seeking in the human laboratory

open access: yesAlcohol, Clinical and Experimental Research, Volume 49, Issue 7, Page 1518-1529, July 2025.
This study aimed to develop a behavioral model of aversion‐resistant alcohol seeking in the human alcohol laboratory to aid translational research. Those with more extensive drinking histories worked harder for alcohol in both neutral and aversive conditions.

Frontal and Parietal Activities Associated With Different Inhibitory Processes in a Stroop‐Matching/Stop‐Signal Task: A Channel‐Wise fNIRS Study

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 62, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Inhibition is an important component of cognitive control that encompasses multiple processes, such as interference control, inhibition of prepotent responses and suppression of ongoing responses. Frontal and temporoparietal regions of the cortex are implicated differently in inhibitory functions.

Coronal Magnetography of Solar Active Region 8365 with the SSRT and NoRH Radio Heliographs

open access: yesSolar Physics, 2005
Microwave maps of solar active region NOAA 8365 are used to derive the coronal magnetograms of this region. The technique is based on the fact that the circular polarization of a radio source is modified when microwaves pass through the coronal magnetic field transverse to the line of sight.

Neuroanatomical Changes in the Stopping Network Across the Adult Lifespan Assessed With Quantitative and Diffusion MRI

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 46, Issue 8, June 1, 2025.
Response inhibition enables us to modify ongoing motor actions, but this process becomes impaired in older age. We examined age‐related anatomical changes to the response inhibition network using diffusion and quantitative MRI, and found that white matter degradation and iron accumulation may drive these observed behavioural changes.

Impaired response inhibition and excess cortical thickness as candidate endophenotypes for trichotillomania. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Trichotillomania is characterized by repetitive pulling out of one's own hair. Impaired response inhibition has been identified in patients with trichotillomania, along with gray matter density changes in distributed neural regions including frontal ...

Assessment and Correlates of Different Phenotypical Characteristics of Psychological Flexibility in Adapting to Chronic Pain: A Feasibility Study

open access: yesPain Practice, Volume 25, Issue 5, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives This study examined the feasibility of a research protocol for assessing psychological flexibility in patients with chronic pain to gain insight into the uniqueness of different phenotypes of psychological flexibility and to tentatively test whether psychological flexibility is associated with effective adaptation to chronic pain ...

A Spanish Sentence Repetition Task and its relationship with spontaneous language in children aged 30 to 36 months

open access: yesFrontiers in Communication
Sentence Repetition Tasks (SRTs) have been convincingly established as a reliable tool for assessing child language development. However, there are important aspects of this task that deserve more attention.

Microstructural evolution and delayed hydride cracking of FSW-AZ31 magnesium alloy during SSRT

open access: yesTransactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China, 2014
Abstract Evolution of microstructure including texture and fractography in a friction-stir welded (FSW) AZ31 magnesium alloy was investigated. The texture was measured using a neutron diffractometer. The microstructure and fractography of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) samples were observed by optical and scanning electron microscopy, respectively ...
