Role of sST2 in predicting recurrence of atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency catheter ablation
Pacing and clinical electrophysiology : PACE, 2020Atrial fibrosis is associated with atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after ablation. This study aims to determine the relationship between soluble ST2 (sST2), a profibrotic biomarker, and AF recurrence after radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA).

RGS domain-independent Sst2 action
2008RGS proteins are a family of proteins that share a conserved RGS domain that contacts Gα to accelerate GTP hydrolysis. It is thought that the function of RGS proteins lies not only in the RGS domain, but also through interactions mediated by domains outside of this region.

Presence of sst2(a) receptor immunoreactivity in rat ependyma and tanycytes
Neuroreport, 2001Somatostatin sst2(a) receptor was observed, by immunofluorescence, in ependymal cells and in tanycytes of the wall of the ventricle and the hypothalamic recess of the male rat median eminence. Strong immunoreactivity for the receptor protein was observed in lateral tanycytes (alpha-type) while a moderate signal was seen in medial tanycytes (beta-type).

BACKGROUND The inflammatory markers sST2, HSP27 and hsCRP have already been identified as prognostic markers in chronic heart failure (HF). Though individual biomarkers have proven their value in mortality risk prediction, the role of a multimarker ...

Fluorescence Aptasensor for sST2 Detection Using In Vitro Selected Aptamers
Analytical ChemistrySoluble suppression of tumorigenicity 2 (sST2) is a critical biomarker for heart failure (HF) diagnosis and prognosis, yet conventional antibody-based detection methods suffer from time-consuming protocols and high costs and involve complex detection procedures.

Spontaneous Shmooing in Saccharomyces Sans Sst2
Science's STKE, 2003Yeast release pheromones bind to heterotrimeric guanosine triphosphate (GTP)-binding protein (G protein)-coupled receptors (GPCRs), triggering a mating response in which cells of the opposite mating type extend a projection called a shmoo. The mating response depends on GPCR-stimulated guanine nucleotide exchange on the G protein α subunit (Gα ...

Agonist properties of putative small-molecule somatostatin sst2 receptor-selective antagonists
European Journal of Pharmacology, 2003The availability of antagonist ligands for somatostatin receptors is very limited, with those that are available often displaying agonist properties or limited receptor subtype selectivity. Hay et al. [Bioorg. Med. Chem. Lett. 11 (2001) 2731] recently described the development of small-molecule somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (sst(2)) selective ...

Functional characterisation of the putative somatostatin sst2 receptor antagonist CYN 154806
Naunyn-Schmiedeberg's Archives of Pharmacology, 2003The two forms (DTyr8 and LTyr8) of the putative somatostatin sst2 receptor antagonist CYN 154806 (Ac-4NO2-Phe-c(DCys-Tyr-DTrp-Lys-Thr-Cys)-D/LTyr-NH2) were investigated on recombinant human somatostatin receptors and endogenous guinea-pig ileum receptors.

Presence of somatostatin sst2 receptors in the developing rat auditory system
Developmental Brain Research, 1996A transient expression of somatostatin mRNA as well as of the peptide itself has been described in the developing mammalian auditory brainstem. However, little is known about the presence, and the spatial and temporal pattern of somatostatin (SRIF) receptor subtypes in this system.

Functional interactions occur between SST2 and SST3 receptor subtypes
2009Rationale: Previous studies in our lab showed that sst2 and sst3 receptors are implicated in the anticonvulsant actions of somatostatin-14 and cortistatin-14. These findings suggest a possible functional coupling between these two receptors. To confirm this intracellular interaction, we used L-779,976, a selective sst2 agonist, cyanamid154806, a ...
