SNR Degradation in Undersampled Phase Measurement Systems

open access: yesSensors, 2016
A wide range of measuring applications rely on phase estimation on sinusoidal signals. These systems, where the estimation is mainly implemented in the digital domain, can generally benefit from the use of undersampling to reduce the digitizer and ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

A Dual Forgetting Factor-Based Adaptive IMM-UKF Algorithm for Vehicle Tracking

open access: yesIEEE Access
In response to the limitations of the traditional Interacting Multiple Model Unscented Kalman Filter (IMM-UKF) in high-noise environments—particularly its insufficient tracking accuracy and poor adaptability of the noise covariance matrices—

Stochastic stability of an autoresonance model with a center–saddle bifurcation [PDF]

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Прикладная нелинейная динамика
The purpose of this work is to investigate the effect of stochastic perturbations of the white noise type on the stability of capture into autoresonance in oscillating systems with a variable pumping amplitude and frequency such that a center&ndash ...

Noise Enhanced Stability

open access: yes, 2004
The noise can stabilize a fluctuating or a periodically driven metastable state in such a way that the system remains in this state for a longer time than in the absence of white noise. This is the noise enhanced stability phenomenon, observed experimentally and numerically in different physical systems. After shortly reviewing all the physical systems

Noise landing charges and passengers' choice of airport. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This study demonstrates how aircraft noise can be translated into a form of landing charge. The objectives of the thesis were to develop noise landi'ng charges for six of the major airports in England and to determine what the implication it has on ...

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Almost surely asymptotic stability of neutral stochastic differential delay equations with Markovian switching

open access: yes, 2008
The main aim of this paper is to discuss the almost surely asymptotic stability of the neutral stochastic differential delay equations (NSDDEs) with Markovian switching.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...
