Preparation of a Reinforced Polymeric Coating with Inorganic Nano Additives as UV-Stabilizers and Protect Oil Pipelines from Corrosion [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2017
In this research a nano polymeric coating has been prepared to be used for the protection of the external surface of oil pipelines (medium carbon steel (CK50)) from corrosion in salt water (3.6% NaCl) .

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

The Lipschitz metric on deformation spaces of $G$-trees

open access: yes, 2014
For a finitely generated group $G$, we introduce an asymmetric pseudometric on projectivized deformation spaces of $G$-trees, using stretching factors of $G$-equivariant Lipschitz maps, that generalizes the Lipschitz metric on Outer space and is an ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Algebraic groups and compact generation of their derived categories of representations

open access: yes, 2015
Let $k$ be a field. We characterize the group schemes $G$ over $k$, not necessarily affine, such that $\mathsf{D}_{\mathrm{qc}}(B_kG)$ is compactly generated.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Traces on crossed products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We give a description of traces on C(X)\rtimes G in terms of measurable fields of traces on the C*-algebras of the stabilizers of the action of G on X.Comment: 5 pages, AMS ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Sustainable Earthen Construction: A Meta-Analytical Review of Environmental, Mechanical, and Thermal Performance

open access: yesBuildings
This study examines the main earthen constructions—such as adobe, compressed earth blocks (CEBs), and rammed earth walls (REWs)—highlighting their potential to reduce the environmental impact compared to conventional materials.
