Association between serum 5-methyltetrahydrofolate and homocysteine in Chinese hypertensive participants with different MTHFR C677T polymorphisms: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesNutrition Journal, 2022
Background and aims Clarifying the association between 5-methyltetrahydrofolate and homocysteine and the effect pattern of methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR C677T) may contribute to the management of homocysteine and may serve as a significant ...

Metagenomic Association Uncovers Host Genotype‐Structured Rhizobacterial Networks and Novel Taxa That Enhance Soybean Salt Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An STI‐guided metagenomic association framework links soybean salt‐tolerance phenotypes with rhizosphere microbiome composition and network organization in natural saline soils. The approach identifies candidate beneficial taxa, including Thalassospira xiamenensis, and provides an efficient strategy for mining stress‐protective microbes from native ...

Identification of an Osteochondral Erosion Process in Gout Driven by Fibrinogen‐Integrin Activation and Local MSU Crystallization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cartilage injury promotes local fibrinogen deposition, which accelerates monosodium urate crystallization and activates integrin‐mediated matrix‐degradation. This self‐amplifying cycle drives gout‐related cartilage erosion. Disrupting fibrinogen deposition or restoring the cartilage barrier could interrupt this vicious cycle.

Quantification of Volatile Metabolites Derived From Garlic (Allium sativum) in Human Urine

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2019
The consumption of garlic (Allium sativum) is widely known to (negatively) impact body odor, in particular breath and sweat, but also urine. Despite this common phenomenon, the underlying processes in the body that lead to the malodor are not yet fully ...

Psychological Stress Associated Bile Acid Reprogramming Promotes Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Depression is increasingly recognized as a risk factor for chronic diseases, yet its biological impact on cancer remains unclear. Using data from more than 490 000 participants across three international cohorts, we show that depression significantly increases the risk of liver cancer.

Quantitation of 5-methyltetraydrofolic acid in plasma for determination of folate status and clinical studies by stable isotope dilution assays.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Folates play a key role in the prevention of neural tube defects in newborns. Thus, it is important to reliably determine the bioavailability of folates from various foods.

Quantitation of lyso-platelet activating factor molecular species from human neutrophils by mass spectrometry.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1986
Two physicochemical methods have been developed for the quantitative analysis of lyso-platelet activating factor (lyso-PAF) based on gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (GLC/MS) and fast atom bombardment-mass spectrometry (FAB/MS) using stable ...

PFKFB4 Deubiquitination by USP10 Enhances Fumarate Metabolism to Orchestrate the KDM1A/Rad51 Axis and Confer Radioresistance in Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
USP10 binds to and stabilizes PFKFB4, enhancing glycolytic ATP production, which activates the urea cycle and elevates fumarate. This inhibits histone demethylase KDM1A, leading to increased H3K4me1 enrichment at the Rad51 promoter and direct activation of Rad51 transcription, which confers lung cancer radioresistance. The PFKFB4 inhibitor 5MPN targets

The Pear Aroma in the Austrian Pinot Blanc Wine Variety: Evaluation by Means of Sensorial-Analytical-Typograms with regard to Vintage, Wine Styles, and Origin of Wines

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality, 2018
The perceived pear aroma in wines was associated with various short- and medium-chain ester compounds. A consumer study confirmed this assumption. In total, eight ester compounds from a series of 100 aromatic substances were associated with the pear ...
