Intrinsic Photoactive Star ZnPc–Poly(glutamate) Nanoplatforms for Multimodal Glioblastoma Therapy and Brain‐Targeted Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An intrinsic photoactive star‐shaped zinc phtalocyanine‐poly(L‐glutamic acid) (ZnPc‐PGA) nanoplatform for multimodal glioblastoma (GBM) therapy and brain‐targeted elivery. A ZnPc‐PGA‐based multifunctional theranostic nanocarrier platform enables image‐guided, multimodal GBM therapy. ZnPc‐PGA nanocarriers support the integration of fluorescence imaging,

Effect of dietary calcium and stage of lactation on potassium balance in lactating Holstein cows through 20 weeks of lactation

open access: yesThe Professional Animal Scientist, 2012
ABSTRACT Potassium balance in dairy cows has been related to lactation performance and metabolic response to heat stress. Potassium balance was evaluated in 18 lactating Holsteins, 10 primiparous and 8 multiparous, during wk 2, 5, 8, 11, and 20 of lactation using 4-d total collection trials.

A Modular Liver–Microbial Microfluidic Platform to Evaluate Therapeutic and Adverse Effects of Microbial Metabolites

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a modular microfluidic platform that connects liver cells with live microbes to mimic key aspects of the gut–liver interaction in steatosis. Using this system, both microbial metabolites and live bacteria significantly reduced fat accumulation in liver cells, but live microbes triggered inflammation and broader metabolic changes ...

Prevalence of Bovine KetØsis in Relation to Number and Stage of Lactation

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 1983
The prevalence of bovine ketosis as distributed among various selected subgroups of 504 Ayrshire and Friesian cows was studied during the indoor-housing season 1978–1979 in western and eastern parts of Finland. Special attention was paid to variation by lactation number.

A Novel Perfused Full‐Thickness Human Skin Microphysiological System for Modeling Injury, Regeneration, Tumor Pathophysiology, and Therapeutics Development

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
What if human skin could remain fully alive and functional outside the body for weeks? A New Alternative Method (NAM) based on a vascularized full‐thickness skin microphysiological system achieves precisely this, preserving native vasculature, resident immunity, and metabolic activity for up to three weeks, while faithfully recapitulating radiation ...
