RR Lyrae stars and the distant Galactic halo - Distribution, chemical composition, kinematics, and dynamics

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1985
Published observational data on 29 outer-Galactic-halo RR Lyr stars (Saha, 1984, and Saha and Oke, 1984) and from other surveys are analyzed to characterize the mass distribution, chemical composition, kinematics, and dynamics of the outer Galaxy (up to galactocentric radius R = 40 kpc).

Kinematics and Dynamics of Young Star Clusters with TMT

open access: yes, 2018
Star clusters are evolving n-body systems. We discuss the early dynamics of star clusters, the process of primordial mass segregation and clustering observed in certain young clusters. We discuss how the dynamics coupled with stellar evolution of a cluster define the radial profile, mass function of and disruption the cluster and compare these ...

The MAGPI survey: using kinematic asymmetries in stars and gas to dissect drivers of galaxy dynamical evolution

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society
ABSTRACT We present a study of kinematic asymmetries from the integral field spectroscopic surveys MAGPI and SAMI. By comparing the asymmetries in the ionized gas and stars, we aim to disentangle the physical processes that contribute to kinematic disturbances.
