The role of the novel Th17 cytokine IL-26 in intestinal inflammation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background and aims: Interleukin 26 (IL-26), a novel IL-10-like cytokine without a murine homologue, is expressed in T helper 1 (Th1) and Th17 cells. Currently, its function in human disease is completely unknown. The aim of this study was to analyse its

Hierarchical Targeting of TREM2+ Myeloid Cells via Acid‐Triggered OMVs Reprogram Immunosuppression and Suppress Osteolysis in Bone‐Metastatic TNBC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a hierarchical targeting nanoplatform, siTREM2@ETP‐PEOz‐OMVs, against triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) bone metastasis. It precisely delivers therapeutic siTREM2 to monocytes/macrophages within the metastatic niche. This intervention dually regulates cell fate: reprogramming immunosuppressive macrophages and inhibiting ...

A Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3·Nuclear Factor κB (Stat3·NFκB) Complex Is Necessary for the Expression of Fascin in Metastatic Breast Cancer Cells in Response to Interleukin (IL)-6 and Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF)-α*

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2014
Background: IL-6/Stat3 promote breast cancer metastasis through regulation of the fascin gene. Results: In addition to IL-6, TNF-α induces binding of a Stat3·NFκB complex to the fascin promoter to induce transcription. Conclusion: Both NFκB and Stat3 are

Human Trefoil Factor 3 induces the transcription of its own promoter through STAT3

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
AbstractHuman trefoil factor 3 (hTFF3) is a small peptide of potential therapeutic value. The mechanisms underlying the transcriptional regulation of hTFF3 remain unclear. The purpose of this study was to identify the core functional elements for the self-induction action of hTFF3 and transcription factors.

Discovery of an Adaptive Neuroimmune Response Driving Itch and Fast Tick Removal with Implications for Preventing Pathogen Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Itch‐induced tick removal (IITR): An acquired neuroimmune mechanism, itch‐induced tick removal, develops after repeated tick exposure, mobilizing T cells and macrophages at the tick bite site to trigger a rapid scratching response that facilitates timely tick removal within a critical window that precedes the transmission of many tick‐borne pathogens ...

The STAT3-VDAC1 axis modulates mitochondrial function and plays a critical role in the survival of acute myeloid leukemia cells

open access: yesHaematologica
Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) is a well-described transcription factor that mediates oxidative phosphorylation and glutamine uptake in bulk acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells and leukemic stem cells (LSCs).

FGFR1 Cooperates with EGFR in Lung Cancer Oncogenesis, and Their Combined Inhibition Shows Improved Efficacy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Introduction: There is substantial evidence for the onco- genic effects of fi broblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) in many types of cancer, including lung cancer, but the role of this receptor has not been addressed speci fi cally in lung ...

Delivery of Pleckstrin‐Homology Domains Suppresses PI3K/Akt Signaling and Breast Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current therapies curb tumor growth but not metastasis. Obscurin, a giant metastasis suppressor lost in breast cancer, restrains PI3K/Akt signaling but is impractical to restore. We deploy a mini‐obscurin, comprising the obscurin‐PH‐domain, which sequesters PI3K‐p85, potently suppressing invasion and metastasis.

Inhibition of STAT3 Expression and Signaling in Resveratrol-Differentiated Medulloblastoma Cells

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2008
In this study, the potential influence of resveratrol (3,5,4′-trihydroxy-trans-stilbene) in signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling of medulloblastoma cells was evaluated by checking the status of STAT3 signaling and its ...
