Cities and global governance: State failure or a new global order? [PDF]
International society, so long the resolution to problems of collective political order, now appears to be failing in its capacity to deal with transnational challenges such as climate change, global security and financial instability.

ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Testing from a nondeterministic finite state machine using adaptive state counting [PDF]
The problem of generating a checking experiment from a nondeterministic finite state machine has been represented in terms of state counting. However, test techniques that use state counting traditionally produce preset test suites.

ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...

Background 2-oxoglutarate (2OG), an intermediate metabolite in the tricarboxylic acid cycle, has been found to associate with chronic heart failure (HF), but its effect on short-term adverse outcomes in patients with acute HF (AHF) is uncertain.

Some advances in importance sampling of reliability models based on zero variance approximation [PDF]
We are interested in estimating, through simulation, the probability of entering a rare failure state before a regeneration state. Since this probability is typically small, we apply importance sampling.

The Haldane bosonisation scheme and metallic states of interacting fermions in d spatial dimensions
We consider the Haldane bosonisation scheme in d spatial dimensions as applied to a realistic model of interacting fermions in d=2 and unequivocally demonstrate failure of this scheme in d > 1, specifically in d=2.

An immunocompromised dialysis patient with skin and bone lesions [PDF]
Patients with chronic kidney failure have disturbances of immune function involving both innate and adaptive systems. These result in both immunodepression which increases susceptibility to infection and immunoactivation leading to a chronic inflammatory
