Additively manufacturable micro-mechanical logic gates. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Early examples of computers were almost exclusively based on mechanical devices. Although electronic computers became dominant in the past 60 years, recent advancements in three-dimensional micro-additive manufacturing technology provide new fabrication ...

Dynamic and Static Flexural Rigidity of Fabric.

open access: yesSen'i Gakkaishi, 1993
The relationship between the dynamic and static flexural rigidities of fabrics was discussed. The dynamic rigidity was measured by a vibrating-reed method, and the static one by a KES pure bending test. The static flexural rigidity was found to be several times as large as the dynamic one.

A Compact 2-DOF Piezoelectric-Driven Platform Based on “Z-Shaped” Flexure Hinges

open access: yesMicromachines, 2017
A compact 2-DOF (two degrees of freedom) piezoelectric-driven platform for 3D cellular bio-assembly systems has been proposed based on “Z-shaped” flexure hinges. Multiple linear motions with high resolution both in x and y directions are achieved. The “Z-

Quasi-static stop band with flexural metamaterial having zero rotational stiffness [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
AbstractMetamaterials realizing stop bands have attracted much attentions recently since they can break-through the well-known mass law. However, achieving the stop band at extremely low frequency has been still a big challenge in the fields of elastic metamaterials.

Static and Motional Feedthrough Capacitance of Flexural Microresonator [PDF]

open access: yesActive and Passive Electronic Components, 2011
The present paper evaluates the static and motional feedthrough capacitance of a silicon carbide-based flexural-mode microelectromechanical system resonator. The static feedthrough capacitance was measured by a network analyzer under atmospheric pressure.

Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Short Columns Subjected to Freeze–Thaw Cycles

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Previous research shows that freeze−thaw cycles represent one of the most dangerous threats to reinforced concrete (RC) structures. However, there is almost no experimental data on the effects of freeze−thaw cycles on the seismic behavior of ...

Flexural Strength of Steel Fiber Ultra High Strength Concrete Beams under Static and Repeated Loads

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2020
The goal of the present work is to study the performance of Ultra High Strength Con-crete (UHSC) beams in flexure under static and repeated loads. The main considered variables are the main reinforcement ratios which are (0.0129, 0.0204, and 0.0323), and

Bending of Shear Deformable Plates Resting on Winkler Foundations According to Trigonometric Plate Theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied and Computational Mechanics, 2018
A trigonometric plate theory is assessed for the static bending analysis of plates resting on Winkler elastic foundation. The theory considers the effects of transverse shear and normal strains.

Differentiation and Distribution of Marrow Stem Cells in Flex-Flow Environments Demonstrate Support of the Valvular Phenotype. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
For treatment of critical heart valve diseases, prosthetic valves perform fairly well in most adults; however, for pediatric patients, there is the added requirement that the replacement valve grows with the child, thus extremely limiting current ...
