Statistical process control tools for monitoring clinical performance [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Quality in Health Care, 2003
The quality assurance of medical practice in most countries is effected through a mixture of informal assessment and peer review, and through more formal accreditation, credentialing or delineation of privilege. The process of assessment and review is often subjective and without explicit reference to pre-determined standards of practice.

Data fusion methods for statistical process monitoring and quality characterization in metal additive manufacturing

open access: yes, 2018
Metal additive manufacturing (AM) technologies enable the production of complex shapes, lightweight structures and novel functional features. Such increased complexity of the products imposes various challenges in terms of statistical process monitoring ...

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Weighted-Likelihood-Ratio-Based EWMA Schemes for Monitoring Geometric Distributions

open access: yesAxioms
Monitoring the parameter of discrete distributions is common in industrial production. Also, it is often crucial to monitor the parameter of geometric distribution, which is often regarded as the nonconforming item rate.

Statistical Monitoring of Processes with Multiple Operating Modes

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2019
Abstract Varying production regimes and loading conditions on equipment often result in multiple operating modes in process operations. The data recorded from such processes will typically be multimodal in nature leading to challenges in applying standard data-driven process monitoring approaches.

Monitoring carbon emissions using deep learning and statistical process control: a strategy for impact assessment of governments’ carbon reduction policies

open access: yesEnvironmental Monitoring & Assessment
Across the globe, governments are developing policies and strategies to reduce carbon emissions to address climate change. Monitoring the impact of governments’ carbon reduction policies can significantly enhance our ability to combat climate change and ...

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Performance Evaluation of Shiryaev–Roberts and Cumulative Sum Schemes for Monitoring Shape and Scale Parameters in Gamma-Distributed Data Under Type I Censoring

open access: yesAxioms
This paper proposes two process monitoring schemes, namely the Shiryaev–Roberts (SR) procedure and the cumulative sum (CUSUM) procedure, to detect shifts in the shape and scale parameters of Type I right-censored Gamma-distributed lifetime data.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Quality Weakly Related Fault Detection Based on Weighted Dual-Step Feature Extraction

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Process variables can be separated into quality strongly related variables (QSRVs) and quality weakly related variables (QWRVs) based on the difference of correlation between process variables and quality.
