Dynamic elementary mode modelling of non-steady state flux data [PDF]
A novel framework is proposed to analyse metabolic fluxes in non-steady state conditions, based on the new concept of dynamic elementary mode (dynEM): an elementary mode activated partially depending on the time point of the experiment. Two methods are introduced here: dynamic elementary mode analysis (dynEMA) and dynamic elementary mode regression ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Concurrent operation of 10 gyrotrons at W7-X experience and improvement opportunities
At the stellarator Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ECRH) is the main heating system for steady-state operation and was the only available heating system during the operation phase OP1.2a in 2017.

Steady-state entanglement between distant quantum dots in photonic crystal dimers
We show that two spatially separated semiconductor quantum dots under resonant and continuous-wave excitation can be strongly entangled in the steady-state, thanks to their radiative coupling by mutual interaction through the normal modes of a photonic ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Towards detachment-compatible I-mode plasma on EAST tokamak
The divertor detachment is important for the improved confinement mode (I-mode) to serve as a reliable operating scenario in future fusion reactors. A reproducible steady-state I-mode operation with the energy detachment of the inner target has been ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

AC Variable Speed Drive Based on a New Sliding-Mode Variable Structure Strategy
During design of AC drive system, simplified and/or reduced-order models of AC machines are usually used as design models, as the result, for control design based on classical linear controllers, the control performance, both in steady-state and ...
