Integration of Numerical Simulation and Control Scheme for Energy Conservation of Aluminum Melting Furnaces

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Aluminum melting process is a semi-continuous process with high-energy consumption. In this paper, a software-based strategy which considers numerical simulation and control scheme simultaneously is employed to improve energy consumption of aluminum ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

On the Evaluation of Solar Greenhouse Efficiency in Building Simulation during the Heating Period

open access: yesEnergies, 2012
Among solar passive systems integrated in buildings, sunspaces or solar greenhouses represent a very interesting solution. A sunspace is a closed, southbound volume, constituted by transparent surfaces, adjacent to a building, which reduces winter energy

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Modeling and simulation of drying operation in PVC powder production line: a pneumatic dryer model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A one-dimensional steady-state model is developed to simulate drying of PVC powder in a pneumatic dryer. In this model, a two-phase continuum model was used to describe the steady-state flow of a dilute dispersed phase (wet PVC powder) and a continuous ...
