CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Dusty Stellar Source Classification by Implementing Machine Learning Methods Based on Spectroscopic Observations in the Magellanic Clouds

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Dusty stellar point sources are a significant stage in stellar evolution and contribute to the metal enrichment of galaxies. These objects can be classified using photometric and spectroscopic observations using color–magnitude diagrams and infrared ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

An Astronomical Symbiosis: Stellar Evolution and Spectral Classification (1860 - 1910)

open access: yes, 1978
The interdependence of schemes of spectral classification and theories of stellar evolution is examined and discussed in the context of the work of major 19th and early 20th century astronomers, including A. Secchi, H. Vogel, W. Huggins, N.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

ABSTRACT OBJECT CLASSIFICATION AND THE DETERMINATION OF STELLAR PARAMETERS

open access: yes, 2008
Gaia will observe more than one billion objects brighter than ¢¡¤£¦ ¥ , including stars, asteroids, galaxies and quasars. As Gaia performs real time detection (i.e. without an input catalogue) the intrinsic properties of most of these objects will not be

Machine Learning Techniques for Stellar Light Curve Classification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We apply machine learning techniques in an attempt to predict and classify stellar properties from noisy and sparse time-series data. We preprocessed over 94 GB of Kepler light curves from the Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes (MAST) to classify ...

Machine learning applications in Jupiter-host star classification using stellar spectra [PDF]

open access: yes
The link between stellar host properties, be it chemical, physical, dynamical, or galactic in nature, with the presence of planetary companions, has been one that has been repeatedly tested in the literature. Several corroborated work has argued that the

Se-ResNet+SVM Model: An Effective Method of Searching for Hot Subdwarfs from LAMOST

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
This paper presents a robust neural network approach for identifying hot subdwarfs. Our method leveraged the Squeeze-and-Excitation Residual Network to extract abstract features, which were combined with experience features to create hybrid features ...
