Testing Evolutionary Models of Dwarf Irregular Galaxies through Gas and Stellar Metallicity Determinations in HII Galaxies [PDF]
AbstractDwarf irregular galaxies are usually low-metallicity objects, and show ongoing or very recent star formation, giving rise to their irregular appearance. Especially HII galaxies, a sub-category of dwarf irregulars showing unusually high star formation activity, are believed to be among the least evolved galaxies in existence today.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Clusters are excellent test benches for verification and improvement of stellar evolution theory. The recent detection of solar-like oscillations in G-K giants in the open cluster NGC6819 with Kepler provides us with independent constraints on the masses

Atomic Diffusion and Mixing in Old Stars V: A deeper look into the Globular Cluster NGC 6752 [PDF]
Abundance trends in heavier elements with evolutionary phase have been shown to exist in the globular cluster NGC 6752 [Fe/H]=-1.6. These trends are a result of atomic diffusion and additional (non-convective) mixing.

Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.
