Indeterminacy and instability in Petschek reconnection
We explain two puzzling aspects of Petschek's model for fast reconnection. One is its failure to occur in plasma simulations with uniform resistivity. The other is its inability to provide anything more than an upper limit for the reconnection rate.

Stellar Flare Study of nearby Young Moving Group Members with TESS Data
We analyze TESS data to explore stellar flares and rotational characteristics in members of nearby young moving groups (NYMGs). Our study focuses on 417 members of NYMGs aged 10–150 Myr.

Objective Despite well‐described biologic causes, the public views unhealthy lifestyle choices as the primary cause of gout. This study investigated how causal beliefs about gout influence the public's views about its management. Methods In a randomized study, 201 members of the public viewed one of two 2‐minute videos about gout.

Stellar Flares from the First TESS Data Release: Exploring a New Sample of M Dwarfs [PDF]
We perform a study of stellar flares for the 24,809 stars observed with 2 minute cadence during the first two months of the TESS mission. Flares may erode exoplanets’ atmospheres and impact their habitability, but might also trigger the genesis of life ...

Objective Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is a cornerstone therapy in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but the weight‐based dosing does not account for clinical factors that can introduce individual variability in drug metabolism and clearance. We leveraged longitudinal data from a prospective SLE cohort to identify clinical factors that predict ...

Self-organized Criticality across 13 Orders of Magnitude in the Solar–Stellar Connection
The observed size distributions of solar and stellar flares are found to be consistent with the predictions of the fractal-diffusive self-organized criticality (FD-SOC) model, which predicts power-law slopes with universal constants of α _F = (9/5) = 1 ...

Seismological insights into solar and stellar magnetic activity cycles
The Sun’s magnetic activity cycle varies primarily on a time scale of approximately 11yrs from minimum to maximum and back again. It is well-known that the properties of the Sun’s acoustic oscillations are affected by the near-surface internal magnetic ...

Properties of PSR J1023+0038 Based on Kepler, TESS, and FAST
The pulsar system PSR J1023+0038 is a very interesting binary with radio millisecond pulsar and low-mass X-ray binary transitions, which depend on the stellar accretion process. We have used Kepler light curves with 1 minute cadence and TESS light curves
