Nanomaterial‐Mediated Radiotherapy–Immunotherapy Combinations: Breaking Immunosuppression and Revolutionizing Cancer Treatment

open access: yesMedComm – Biomaterials and Applications, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2026.
Nanomaterials integrate radiotherapy and immunotherapy by enhancing radiosensitivity, remodeling the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, and promoting systemic antitumor immunity. This review summarizes the latest strategies of nanomaterial‐mediated combinations (RT, immunotherapy, IRT) and highlights future directions for overcoming clinical ...

Oxidative and Antioxidant Systems in Ferroptosis of Cancer: Mechanisms, Regulations, and Therapeutic Targeting

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2026.
Ferroptosis is governed by the balance between reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐driven lipid peroxidation and a multi‐tiered antioxidant network. ROS sources include mitochondrial electron transport chain, voltage‐dependent anion channels, NADPH oxidases, and endoplasmic reticulum‐resident oxidoreductases, while antioxidant defenses span the primary GSH ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 8, Page 2040-2053, August 2026.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Intravesical prostatic protrusion as a predictor of acute urinary retention following stereotactic body radiation therapy for localised prostate cancer: a retrospective study

open access: yesOncologie
Predictors of acute urinary retention after stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for localised prostate cancer remain undefined. This study aimed to evaluate the association between intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) and its occurrence.

Accelerated and standardized commissioning of a robotic RadioSurgery system using a hybrid golden beam data model

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Background The CyberKnife™ system requires extensive beam data acquisition across multiple collimation systems. The CyberComm™ framework integrates a linac output tuning procedure with a hybrid Golden Beam Data (GBD) model to accelerate and standardize CyberKnife commissioning while maintaining dosimetric accuracy.

Assessment of dose distribution in pancreatic SABR in the presence of a metallic biliary stent using Monte Carlo modeling

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Background Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) with dose escalation is increasingly used for pancreatic cancer; however, the dosimetric impact of metallic biliary stents remains poorly characterized. Self‐expanding metal stents (SEMS), commonly placed for obstructive jaundice, contain high‐density nitinol that produces computed ...
