Ferrocenoyl-adenines: substituent effects on regioselective acylation

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2022
A series of N6-substituted adenine–ferrocene conjugates was prepared and the reaction mechanism underlying the synthesis was explored. The SN2-like reaction between ferrocenoyl chloride and adenine anions is a regioselective process in which the product ...

Steric Effects of Alkyl Ammonium Salts on the Combustion of Exchanged Smectite Clays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Bomb calorimetry was explored as a new method for determining the cation exchange capacity (CEC) of clays. Smectite clays were modified with several alkyl ammonium salts varying in number of carbons and the spatial orientation of the carbons about the ...

A new perspective on the analysis of helix-helix packing preferences in globular proteins

open access: yes, 2003
For many years it had been believed that steric compatibility of helix interfaces could be the source of the observed preference for particular angles between neighbouring helices as emerging from statistical analysis of protein databanks.

Unlocking Ultra‐Long Cycle Stability of Li Metal Electrode by Separators Modified by Porous Red Phosphorus Nanosheets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Coating the standard polypropylene separator with a porous red phosphorous nanosheet greatly improves cycling performance in Li electrode cells. The phosphorus‐based surface chemistry deactivates electrolyte solvent decomposition and enhances the cleavage of F‐containing salt, resulting in an inorganic‐dominated electrolyte interphase (SEI) composition

Semiempirical and Ab Initio calculation of the molecular structures of substituted N-Benzoylimidazoles

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Exatas e Tecnológicas, 2001
Possible reasons of low reactivities of some N-(2-X-benzoyl) imidazoles utilising ab initio Hartree-Fock calculations have been studied in imidazole-catalyzed hydrolysis.

(How) does 1,3,5-triethylbenzene scaffolding work? Analyzing the abilities of 1,3,5-triethylbenzene- and 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene-based scaffolds to preorganize the binding elements of supramolecular hosts and to improve binding of targets

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2012
1,3,5-triethylbenzenes have been widely used as supramolecular templates to organize molecular-recognition elements. It is believed that the steric-gearing effect of the 1,3,5-triethylbenzene template directs the binding elements toward the same face of ...

Hydrogen Transfer from Hantzsch 1,4-Dihydropyridines to Carbon-Carbon Double Bonds under Microwave Irradiation

open access: yesMolecules, 2002
1,4-Dihydropyridines (DHPs) have been used in the reduction of carbon-carbon double bonds under microwave irradiation without solvent. The efficiency of the reactions is dramatically dependent on the steric effects in the DHPs and on the electronic ...

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.
