Homozygote Depression in Gamete-Derived Dragon-Fruit (Hylocereus) Lines

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
Putative gamete-derived progenies from two Hylocereus species, the diploid H. monacanthus and the tetraploid H. megalanthus, were studied with the dual aims to confirm their gamete origin and to evaluate their potential use as genetic resources.

Sterilization of lung matrices by supercritical carbon dioxide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Lung engineering is a potential alternative to transplantation for patients with end-stage pulmonary failure. Two challenges critical to the successful development of an engineered lung developed from a decellularized scaffold include (i) the suppression

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Correlation between the response of maize lines to CMS and their origin

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России, 2023
Transferring maize hybrids to a sterile basis is the most important condition for their introduction into production. In this regard, it is important to study the behavior of the initial forms of hybrids, namely self-pollinated lines, in the sterile ...

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Phenological responses of irrigated rice in the Sahel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Worldwide rising temperatures are already being observed and are expected to increase within the next decades. In the Sahel cool periods cause yield losses due to spikelet sterility in late sown rice and thus Sahelian rice production systems might ...
