Dynamic models and analysis of key factors influencing stick–slip vibration in disc brake system

open access: yesRailway Engineering Science
The stick–slip vibration of the disc brake system at low speed is caused by the interaction of multiple factors. This paper focuses on the disc brake system of the high-speed train as the research object, establishing three- and four-degree-of-freedom ...

Design Strategies and Emerging Applications of High‐Performance Flexible Piezoresistive Pressure Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Flexible piezoresistive pressure sensors underpin wearable and soft electronics. This review links sensing physics, including contact resistance modulation, quantum tunneling and percolation, to unified materials/structure design. We highlight composite and graded architectures, interfacial/porous engineering, and microstructured 3D conductive networks

On the robustness of scale invariance in SOC models

open access: yes, 1999
A random neighbor extremal stick-slip model is introduced. In the thermodynamic limit, the distribution of states has a simple analytical form and the mean avalanche size, as a function of the coupling parameter, is exactly calculable.

Light‐Actuated Fiber‐Climbing Inchworm Robot Toward Endoluminal Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A kirigami‐inspired soft inchworm robot harnesses optical energy from a customized side‐emitting optical fiber, guaranteeing its propulsion along the fiber body. The wavelength‐selective responsiveness of dye‐functionalized liquid crystal elastomers and the application of temporal illumination patterns enable sequential control of robot components. The

Analysis of a dissipative model of self-organized criticality with random neighbors

open access: yes, 1997
We analyze a random neighbor version of the OFC stick-slip model. We find that the mean avalanche size is finite as soon as dissipation exists in the bulk but that this size grows exponentially fast when dissipation tends to zero.Comment: 4 pages, TeX, 4

A New 3D Colon on a Chip to Decipher the Influence of Mechanical Forces on the Physiological Cellular Ecosystem

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
To dissect how mechanical forces influence intestinal physiology, we developed a stretchable 3D colon‐on‐chip that integrates tunable topography, stiffness and peristalsis‐like motion within a physiologically relevant microenvironment. We showed that stretching is a dominant factor governing epithelial behavior, markedly enhancing proliferation and ...

On the formation of limit cycle of the friction-induced stick-slip vibration in oilwell drillstring

open access: yesPetroleum, 2015
In this paper, the stick-slip vibration in oilwell drillstring is studied. The drilling system is modelled as a lumped-parameter torsional pendulum and the interaction between the drill bit and the rock is treated as Coulomb friction.

Rheology of a confined granular material

open access: yes, 2001
We study the rheology of a granular material slowly driven in a confined geometry. The motion is characterized by a steady sliding with a resistance force increasing with the driving velocity and the surrounding relative humidity.

Common Signatures of Altered Gene Regulation and Invasiveness of Different Breast Cancer Cell Lines after Matrix Interface Crossing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Interface transmigration reprograms triple‐negative breast cancer cells, triggering a shared switch toward more aggressive and invasive phenotypes. Using a collagen I interface model, this study identifies shared transcriptional changes involving proliferation, chromatin remodeling, and DNA repair pathways.
