Difference Methods for Stiff Delay Differential Equations

open access: yes, 1981
Delay differential equations of the form y'(t) = f(y(t), z(t)), where z(t) = {y(,1)((alpha)(,1)(y(t))),..., y(,n)((alpha)(,n)(y(t)))}('T) and (alpha)(,i)(y(t)) (LESSTHEQ) t arise in many scientific and engineering fields when transport lags and ...

Stabilized multilevel Monte Carlo method for stiff stochastic differential equations [PDF]

open access: yes
A multilevel Monte Carlo (MLMC) method for mean square stable stochastic differential equations with multiple scales is proposed. For such problems, that we call stiff, the performance of MLMC methods based on classical explicit methods deteriorates ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Solving Stiff Differential Equations with the Method of Patches

open access: yes, 2007
We introduce a new method for solving very stiff sets of ordinary differential equations. The basic idea is to replace the original nonlinear equations with a set of equally stiff equations that are piecewise linear, and therefore can be solved exactly ...

Efficient PINNs via multi-head unimodular regularization of the solutions space

open access: yesCommunications Physics
Non-linear differential equations are a fundamental tool to describe different phenomena in nature. However, we still lack a well-established method to tackle stiff differential equations.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

(α)-Stable Multi-Derivative GLM

open access: yesJournal of Algorithms & Computational Technology, 2015
This paper considers multi-derivative general linear methods and thus presents some second and third derivative general linear methods of orders 5, 7 and 10 in its output methods for computing the solution of stiff initial value problems in ordinary ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Fifth-Order Block Hybrid Approach for Solving First-Order Stiff Ordinary Differential Equations

open access: yesAppliedMath
This study introduces a novel single-step hybrid block method with three intra-step points that attains fifth-order accuracy, offering an accurate and computationally economical tool for solving first-order differential equations.
