Motion characteristics of vertically loaded anchor during drag embedment in layered clay

open access: yesBrodogradnja, 2023
As a widely used taut-wire mooring system for deepwater platforms, the Vertically Loaded Anchor (VLA) has better performance in bearing capacity, angle adaptability, and deepwater installation than other systems.

Stiffness modulation of redundant musculoskeletal systems

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanics, 2019
This work presents a framework for computing the limbs' stiffness using inverse methods that account for the musculoskeletal redundancy effects. The musculoskeletal task, joint and muscle stiffness are regulated by the central nervous system towards improving stability and interaction with the environment during movement.

Quasisolitons in self-diffusive excitable systems, or Why asymmetric diffusivity does not violate the Second Law [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Solitons, defined as nonlinear waves which can reflect from boundaries or transmit through each other, are found in conservative, fully integrable systems.

Investigation of rigid dynamic systems on the example of modelling a tape drive mechanism [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2020
The features of modeling the dynamics of mechanical systems on the example of the operation of the tape drive mechanism related to real technological processes are stated.

Experimental balance energies and isospin-dependent nucleon-nucleon cross-sections

open access: yes, 2010
The effect of different isospin-dependent cross-section on directed flow is studied for variety of systems(for which experimental balance energies are available) using an isospin-dependent Quantum Molecular Dynamic (IQMD) model.

A novel method for alleviating numerical stiffness in Li-ion thermal abuse models

open access: yesJournal of Power Sources Advances, 2023
Numerical modeling of thermal runaway in Lithium-ion batteries has become a critical tool for designing safer battery systems. Significant progress has been made in developing kinetic mechanisms for decomposition reactions and including additional ...

Structure preserving Stochastic Impulse Methods for stiff Langevin systems with a uniform global error of order 1 or 1/2 on position [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Impulse methods are generalized to a family of integrators for Langevin systems with quadratic stiff potentials and arbitrary soft potentials. Uniform error bounds (independent from stiff parameters) are obtained on integrated positions allowing for ...

Extrapolation-based implicit-explicit general linear methods

open access: yes, 2013
For many systems of differential equations modeling problems in science and engineering, there are natural splittings of the right hand side into two parts, one non-stiff or mildly stiff, and the other one stiff. For such systems implicit-explicit (IMEX)

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Why and When Are Evidence‐Based Interventions Adopted in Paediatric Supportive Care? A Qualitative Exploration of the Determinants of Photobiomodulation Implementation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oral mucositis is a common and debilitating side effect of childhood cancer and stem cell transplant treatments. It affects the quality of life of children and young people (CYP) and places a strain on services. Photobiomodulation is recommended for oral mucositis prevention in international guidance but is poorly implemented in UK ...
