Benchmarking of implicit numerical integration methods for stiff unified constitutive equations in metal forming applications

open access: yesCogent Engineering
Unified constitutive equations have been developed to model the behaviour of metallic materials under various processing conditions. These constitutive equations usually take the form of a set of ordinary differential equations (ODEs), which must be ...

High order second derivative diagonally implicit multistage integration methods for ODEs

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2023
Construction of second derivative diagonally implicit multistage integration methods (SDIMSIMs) as a subclass of second derivative general linear methods with Runge–Kutta stability property requires to generate the corresponding conditions depending of ...

Dexamethasone for Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting Prevention in Pediatric Patients: International Consensus

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background An international Delphi panel of experts developed consensus statements to delineate the circumstances where the risks of dexamethasone as an antiemetic do and do not outweigh its benefits. Procedure Experts in supportive care of pediatric patients were invited to participate.

From efficient symplectic exponentiation of matrices to symplectic integration of high-dimensional Hamiltonian systems with slowly varying quadratic stiff potentials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present a multiscale integrator for Hamiltonian systems with slowly varying quadratic stiff potentials that uses coarse timesteps (analogous to what the impulse method uses for constant quadratic stiff potentials).

Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

Stiff Oscillatory Systems, Delta Jumps and White Noise [PDF]

open access: yesFoundations of Computational Mathematics, 2001
Consider the scalar ordinary differential equation (ODE) \[ dz_{N}/dt=f(z_{N})+H_{n}(t),\;0\leq t\leq \pi,\quad z_{N}(0)=z_{0},\tag{*} \] (\(f\) of class \(C^{\infty }\) global Lipschitz) with the oscillatory forcing term \(H_{N}(t)=\sum_{j=0}^{N}u_{j}(t)\), \(N\gg 1\), where \(u_{j}(t)\) are harmonic oscillator solutions to \[ d^{2}u_{j}/dt^{2}+j^{2 ...

Recycling neutron stars to ultra short periods: a statistical analysis of their evolution in the mu-P plane [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We investigate the statistical evolution of magnetic neutron stars, recycled in binary systems, simulating synthetic populations. To bracket uncertainties, we consider a soft (FP) and a stiff (PS) equation of state (EoS) for nuclear matter and explore ...

Survival Outcomes and Complications Among Canadian Children With Retinoblastoma: A Population‐Based Report From CYP‐C

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Retinoblastoma (RB) is the most common pediatric ocular cancer, yet population‐based data on survival and risk factors remain limited. This study aimed to describe survival in a large national RB cohort and identify predictors of death and complications.
